The Fort Saskatchewan & District Chamber of Commerce has a robust committee structure. Each committee comprises board directors and/or volunteer members from all sectors, bringing a breadth and depth of expertise and experience that gives each committee a well-rounded knowledge base. Each committee is paired with at least one staff member as their liaison, and are chaired or co-chaired by members of the Board of Directors. Committees are one of the ways that the Chamber most actively engages with the membership and are a means to carry out the Chamber’s various priorities and initiatives.
COMMITTEES OF THE BOARD
“The Board may from time to time appoint any committee or other advisory body and its members as it deems necessary or appropriate for such purposes and, subject to the Act and By-Laws, with such powers as the Board shall see fit. Any such committee may formulate its own rules of procedure, subject to such regulations or directions as the Board may from time to time make. The duties and remuneration of any such committee shall be set by the Board. Any committee may be disbanded by the Board and committee member may be removed by the Board. All committees made or appointed by the Board shall report to the Board.”
Currently, we have two types of committees – those that are mandated by our bylaws and are governance-related (Governance, Finance, Policy) and those that are membership-driven and operational (event committees, Women in Business, Membership & Networking). Each committee will have its own membership requirements. However, all committee members must be members in good standing with the Fort Saskatchewan & District Chamber of Commerce. Committees will be confirmed at the board's organizational meeting, which will be the first board meeting after the Annual General Meeting. The board will assign a Chair for each committee, and at the first committee meeting following the organizational meeting, each committee shall select a Vice Chair and Recording Secretary.
